Arisi - the Rice Selector

Over the past 20 years, I have been exploring rices to enjoy. Rice is my comfort food. I could have rice for both the main meals of the day and, some more. So much so, that pics/clips of paddy lands make my heart jump with joy. No wonder I rush to see paddy fields whenever I get a chance, engage with the farmers there, bring back the panicles as memoirs, and explore the rices in the kitchen the very following day.

At home, we are spoilt for choice. We have tried each and every rice you see on our website, not once but multiple times, experimenting each with the various dishes for breakfast and lunch, dinner and dessert.

Many families also wanted to do the same. Explore, taste and enjoy this very diversity of rices. All organic, all Indian, all directly sourced from farmers I know and collectives we collaborate with.

That gave birth to Arisi.

Arisi means rice in Tamil. Probably, the word "rice' came from this Tamil word.

Arisi is a rice Selector designed for anyone to explore the rices we offer by various criteria.

The broad criteria we have classified our rices are:
1 . Type of rice : depending on the level of bran, their glycemic index, fibre content, etc.
2. Health condition - rices for diabetes, weight management and such
3. Special dishes - rices for various cuisines
4. Age - rice for toddlers, more coming.
5. Season - rices for monsoon and then for summer
6. Meals - breakfast, lunch, dessert and such

Because there is a rice for every meal, for every dish, for every season and age, for every health condition and more.

And each option is shown in Arisi as red, brown, white or black types within that option.

Why have so many varieties , when one would do just fine? Short answer, for the same reason why we eat multiple fruits and vegetables, and not just eat one fruit or vegetable day in and day out.

Long answer: needs a separate Blog!!

Suffice it to say, rice diversity is critical for us to enjoy our dishes better, to gather all Nutrition that nature has to offer and to preserve the diversity on the farms.

Check out Arisi. Let us know how it helps you choose.

Enjoy rice diversity. Celebrate it each and every day.
